There is a lot of advice out there about how to optimize your TikTok posts and profile to increase your performance, and let me just tell you the truth…

It doesn’t increase your performance… It increases the searchability of your content.

This happens when your potential customer is using the TikTok search bar to search for solutions using specific keywords that are aligned with the resolution = your brand/product/service.

How do you increase the searchability of your content? By using Keywords!

How do you find keywords? The same way you find the solution: you use the search bar.

This is what you need to do:

  1. Use the search bar and start typing what you currently offer in your industry (do not use your brand name; this won’t help, keep it simple and direct).
  2. Read through the search terms and take note of what people are searching for.
  3. Click through each keyword and look at the best-performing content from a consumer’s perspective.
  4. Take note of what search terms resonate the most with what you offer in your product or service.

How do you implement these keywords into your content? I’m glad you asked.

Apply relevant search terms into your:

  1. Text-on-Screen feature.
  2. Voiceover or include them in your script if you’re talking to the camera.
  3. Include them in your captions in the context of what your content is about.
  4. Include them in your hashtags (remember not to flood your hashtags; keep it relevant to what your content is about).

Again, this will not guarantee that your content will perform great! But it will make it easy to find for those who are using the search bar.
